Day 4 Madrid to Barcelona

Cookies from the nuns of Monasterio del Corpus Christi.  It was noted by Rick Steeves and our free tour tour guide.

They open at 9:30 am. You ring the bell. Sometimes you must ring several times as the nuns are old and hard of hearing (per the tour guide Sebastian).  We had to ring the bell 4-5 times. When they answer the bell via intercom, you reply "dulces" meaning sweets. They let you in. You read the menu posted and sometimes can order various kinds of cookies.  Today, they put only 1 box in the lazy susan and said through the barrier "fini". I suppose it was the last box. It was 10 Euros. A fun activity before we left Madrid.
A courtyard as our reference point when trying to find the nuns for the cookies. The side roads all look very similar as do the doors.
Pastry shop that Rick Steeves recommends.
These are the sweets they are famous for.  Personally...  I'd pass on those but the croissants are excellent. I had ham and cheese.  Courtney had cream and my sister had chocolate. All 3 were so yummy!!
Our last stop before leaving was this local shoe store known for their espadrilles made in Spain. They were awesome and we all got shoes!  Even shoes for little Dylan.
This last gem...  We witnessed this.
This guy had his pants pulled all the way down and proceeded to squirt this foul mess on the wall. After witnessing this horrific event, we noticed two other "spots" on the wall. Earlier in the day, we saw him urinating on the wall. He was in this exact spot, every day.  All day. Then later in the evening, he would walk around as we also saw him late at night when we were having churros and chocolate.
Duty free!!!  Will hit this up on the way out for Dylan. Although this was in Madrid. Hoping Barcelona's airport is just as stocked.
Barcelona here we come.
Tapas!!
My first go around. You pick what you want and when you're done, they count the sticks.
