Day 2 Madrid.

We slept in!!  Woke up at about 9 am and  putzed around until it was time to meet Courtney at the Metro stop.

We signed up for a free walking tour which was rated #1 by Trip Advisor. You paid a donation, at the end, for whatever amount you thought the service was worth.  It was awesome!!
The cathedral. It was just finished in 1993. Was in the works for hundreds of years. The cathedral is what makes Madrid a city versus a town.
The Royal Palace...  No longer inhabited.
The Reina Sophia Museum - has a few Picassos. The Prado Museum we went to yesterday has 10 Picasso works.
Food!!
We had seafood paella, sautéed mushrooms, croquettes, and a white bean soup with sausage and ham. I was the unfortunate one to try the bean soup first. I picked up what I thought was a chorizo piece. It was darker than the rest. I took a bite and it immediately came back out.  The consistency of it...  Made it obvious that it was NOT chorizo but blood sausage. Gross!

The Plaza Mayor.

So envious of your trip with your sister. I hope I get to do something like that with my little sis. Is your niece studying there?
